Small businesses power nearly half the American economy. Until now, they have had almost none of the AI infrastructure that larger enterprises take for granted.
Anthropic has launched Claude for Small Business, a package of connectors and ready-to-run workflows that puts Claude directly inside the tools small business owners already use — including Intuit QuickBooks, PayPal, HubSpot, Canva, DocuSign, Google Workspace, and Microsoft 365.
The launch addresses a widening gap as AI adoption has accelerated across the economy. Small businesses account for 44 percent of US GDP and employ nearly half the private-sector workforce, yet their use of AI has consistently lagged behind larger enterprises. Tools and training have rarely been designed around how small businesses actually operate, and adoption has frequently stalled at the chat interface — useful for answering questions, but falling well short of the operational automation that drives real productivity gains.
Claude for Small Business is designed to close that gap.

How It Works
The product runs through Claude Cowork and ships with 15 ready-to-run agentic workflows spanning finance, operations, sales, marketing, human resources, and customer service, alongside 15 skills built on the recurring tasks that owners identified as the most time-consuming.
Toggle it on, connect the tools already in use, and select the job. Claude executes the work; the owner approves before anything is sent, posted, or paid.
The workflows cover the operational terrain that consumes disproportionate time in small business management. Payroll planning pulls together a QuickBooks cash position against incoming PayPal settlements, builds a 30-day forecast, ranks overdue items, and queues reminders for owner approval. Month-end closing reconciles books against settlements, flags discrepancies, writes a plain-English profit-and-loss statement, and exports a close packet ready for direct forwarding to an accountant. A business pulse workflow surfaces cash position, sales trends, pipeline movement, and weekly commitments in a single view on a set schedule.
Campaign management identifies slow revenue periods, analyzes HubSpot campaign performance, drafts a promotional strategy, and generates assets in Canva. Additional tools include an invoice chaser, a margin analyzer, a tax-season organizer, a contract reviewer, a lead triager, and a content strategist.
Each connected platform handles a defined domain. PayPal manages settlements, invoicing, disputes, and refunds. QuickBooks handles payroll planning, monthly close, cash flow, and reconciliation. HubSpot runs lead triage and campaign attribution. Canva generates and publishes content across channels. DocuSign sends contracts for signature, tracks status, and files executed copies.

Built for Trust
In a survey of small business owners, half cited data security as their single biggest hesitation to adopting AI. Anthropic has addressed this directly in the product design.
Every task and workflow is initiated by the owner. Existing permissions carry over — if an employee cannot access something in QuickBooks or Google Drive today, they cannot access it through Claude. AI Fluency for Small Business
Recognizing that tools alone are insufficient without the knowledge to use them effectively, Anthropic has partnered with PayPal on AI Fluency for Small Business — a free, on-demand online course on using AI to run a small business. The course is taught by small business owners who have already integrated AI into their operations, including Prospect Butcher Co. in Brooklyn and MAKS TIPM Rebuilders in California, and provides practical guidance on identifying which business tasks are suited to AI and how to deploy it safely and responsibly.

The Claude SMB Tour
Beginning May 14 in Chicago, Anthropic is taking Claude for Small Business on a national road tour — a free, half-day AI fluency training and hands-on workshop for 100 local small-business leaders at each stop, hosted by Anthropic and partner Tenex.co. Attendees receive a one-month subscription to Claude Max to begin integrating AI into their daily workflows.
Spring stops include Chicago, Tulsa, Dallas, Hamilton Township, Baton Rouge, Birmingham, Salt Lake City, Baltimore, San Jose, and Indianapolis, with additional cities to be announced for the fall.

Community Investment
As a public benefit corporation, Anthropic has paired the product launch with a series of nonprofit partnerships designed to extend AI access to the smallest businesses and the communities that support them.
In partnership with Workday and the Local Initiatives Support Corporation, Anthropic is supporting the Workday Foundation Solopreneurship Accelerator Program, which will equip an initial cohort of 15 aspiring solopreneurs with seed funding, Claude credits, and an AI-first entrepreneurship curriculum in 2026.
Anthropic is also partnering with three Community Development Financial Institutions — Accion Opportunity Fund, Community Reinvestment Fund USA, and Pacific Community Ventures — to provide Claude credits and technical support to help these organizations build tools that expand small-business access to capital. Pacific Community Ventures is using Claude to power its Radiant Data Hub, collecting and synthesizing voice-based feedback from small business clients to improve products and services across a broader CDFI network.
