White Circle Raises $11M to Govern AI Systems in Real Time

Must read

AI systems are being deployed faster than anyone can watch them. White Circle is betting that real-time governance is the next critical layer of enterprise infrastructure.

White Circle, an enterprise AI governance company, has raised $11 million in seed funding from a group of investors whose names read like a directory of the modern AI industry’s founding generation.

Backers include Romain Huet of OpenAI; Dirk Kingma, formerly of OpenAI and now at Anthropic; Guillaume Lample of Mistral; Thomas Wolf of Hugging Face; Olivier Pomel of Datadog; François Chollet, the creator of Keras; Mehdi Ghissassi, formerly of DeepMind; Paige Bailey of DeepMind; and David Cramer of Sentry.

The investor roster is notable not just for its density of AI credentials but for what it signals about where people closest to frontier model development believe the next infrastructure gap lies — not in building more capable AI, but in governing the AI already being deployed.

The Governance Gap

The problem White Circle is addressing has sharpened considerably as AI development has become more accessible. The rise of low-code and vibe-coding approaches has dramatically lowered the barrier to shipping AI-powered products — but has not correspondingly improved visibility into how those systems behave once they are live. Harmful outputs, prompt-injection attacks, model drift, and sensitive data leakage can emerge and compound before any human reviewer notices them.

“Companies are increasingly relying on AI systems in areas that directly impact people — from healthcare and finance to hiring and security,” said Denis Shilov, founder and chief executive of White Circle. “At the same time, AI development has become significantly more accessible, making oversight more difficult. White Circle was built to give organizations visibility into how their AI behaves, help them respond when things go wrong, and provide a unified system for improving reliability, safety, and compliance.”

What the Platform Does

White Circle monitors AI inputs and outputs in real time through a single API, using proprietary models to detect harmful content, hallucinations, prompt-injection attacks, model drift, and malicious user behavior. The platform surfaces issues such as sensitive data leakage and attempts to manipulate AI agents into harmful actions, and provides analytics tools that allow teams to evaluate and improve model performance over time.

Teams can create custom governance policies and automate enforcement actions — including rate limiting or banning abusive users — while the system continuously refines its detection capabilities through labeled user feedback. The platform is designed to serve both technical and non-technical teams through a centralized interface, regardless of deployment scale.

Elena Iumagulova, Head of Design at White Circle, said the company’s focus on accessibility was deliberate. “We designed the product to give organizations a centralized way to monitor performance, identify risks, and optimize models through a single interface and API,” she said.

What the Funding Is For

The $11 million raise will be used to accelerate product development, expand White Circle’s team across the United States, the United Kingdom, and Europe, and support the growth of its international customer base.

The timing reflects a broader recognition that AI governance is transitioning from a compliance consideration to a core operational requirement. As enterprises deploy AI into higher-stakes workflows — and as regulators in both Europe and the United States move toward more prescriptive documentation and oversight requirements — the market for infrastructure that makes AI systems observable, correctable, and defensible is expanding rapidly.

White Circle is betting that a single, unified governance layer is how enterprises will manage that obligation at scale.
