Smart Robotics Raises €10M to Scale Across Europe

Must read

With logistics automation still vastly underpenetrated, the Dutch robotics firm is betting its real-world AI data gives it a decisive edge.

Smart Robotics, a Dutch embodied AI company focused on warehouse automation, has closed a €10 million Series A funding round. The raise was led by Rotterdamse Havendraken, with participation from Innovation Industries and Dutch family office Ernij Next. The proceeds will fund European expansion across product categories and continued development of the company’s AI-driven control layer.

Founded more than a decade ago, Smart Robotics builds AI-powered pick-and-place solutions for intralogistics. Its full-stack robotics platform is built around a proprietary AI control layer designed to handle high SKU variability and operational complexity with precision, speed and a consistently low error rate. The company combines AI software, robotics hardware and integrated services to advance what it sees as the next phase of warehouse automation.

CEO Heico Sandee credits the company’s edge to a combination of proprietary software, deep deployment experience and a multidisciplinary team spanning AI, robotics and logistics. “What truly sets us apart is the scale of real-world data we have accumulated,” he said. “It enables us to continuously improve our AI and outperform traditional automation systems — and puts us in a strong position to help shape the next wave of automation in logistics.”

The raise comes as logistics automation remains significantly underpenetrated relative to manufacturing, even as demand accelerates. The growth of e-commerce, rising operational requirements and persistent labor shortages are driving the adoption of automated solutions, particularly in robotic pick-and-place applications.
