Skycore Powers Up: €5M to Reinvent AI Data Center Energy

Must read

Skycore raises €5M to build ultra-efficient 800V HVDC Power ICs, tackling the energy bottleneck behind the world’s fastest-scaling AI data centers.

Skycore Semiconductors, a Danish startup developing specialized Power Integrated Circuit (IC) technology, has raised €5 million in seed funding to commercialize its solutions for high-performance computing infrastructure.

The funding round was led by the Amadeus APEX Technology Fund, with participation from First Momentum, Mätch VC, and Balnord.

AI Demands and the 800-Volt Solution

The company’s core technology is designed to solve critical power-infrastructure bottlenecks created by the intensive demands of modern AI data centers. As computing requirements scale, traditional power systems struggle to maintain efficiency and handle the required density within physical constraints.

Skycore has developed a silicon-validated platform designed explicitly for 800V High-Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) architectures, which the industry is increasingly adopting as the next standard for power distribution in large-scale facilities.

The firm’s Power ICs deliver high power density and efficiency in compact, flat form factors, a key feature for scaling dense A.I. server racks. Skycore currently holds six patent families related to this technology and is actively developing products for next-generation facilities.

Pere Llimós Muntal, CEO and co-founder of Skycore Semiconductors, stated that scaling A.I. compute infrastructure requires a fundamental shift in data center power systems.

“Our Power IC technology platform delivers power solutions with extreme power density and efficiency in flat, compact form factors, all essential to enable HVDC architectures,” Mr. Muntal said. “We design our solutions to be inherently scalable to meet the evolving demands of future power architectures.”

Commercialization and Strategic Goals

The eight-person Skycore team plans to use the new capital to gradually expand its staff and accelerate the launch of its first commercial products in collaboration with strategic partners. The company aims to capture a share of the rapidly growing market for power solutions that enable the next wave of AI data center builds.

Its long-term strategy is to become a leader in Power ICs for high-voltage architectures, targeting not only AI data centers but also other applications requiring high-power management.
