DataCamp acquires AI-native Optima to deliver adaptive, human-centred upskilling—reshaping how companies train teams in data science and AI.
DataCamp, an online learning platform founded in Belgium, has acquired Optima, a Dubai-based technology company specializing in adaptive AI for developing data and artificial intelligence skills.
The acquisition is intended to position DataCamp to meet the rising corporate demand for upskilling employees in data science and AI. The platform offers courses and certifications in programming languages and tools, including Python, R, SQL, Power BI, Tableau, and machine learning.
Strategic Rationale and Technology
Optima’s technology is an AI-native system designed to adapt the educational experience in real-time. It adjusts the pace, explanations, and feedback for each user’s specific learning profile. This adaptive technology is already integrated into some of DataCamp’s key courses and will be expanded across the entire platform over the next six months.
The move signals a shift away from static, uniform online learning models, particularly as the field of data science and AI evolves rapidly.

“The field of data and AI is evolving faster than ever, and DataCamp is focusing on dynamic, human-centered learning to help people and organizations thrive amid upheaval,” said Jonathan Cornelissen, DataCamp’s co-founder and CEO.
As part of the acquisition, Yusuf Saber, Optima’s founder and CEO, will join DataCamp as the Chief AI Officer, along with the rest of the Optima team. The companies state that the merger will strengthen DataCamp’s ability to partner with organizations seeking to future-proof their workforce against rapid technological change.
