Netcraft Launches Real-Time Threat Reporting API

Must read

Netcraft’s new API delivers real-time cybercrime threat data to infrastructure providers, enabling faster threat detection and automated response.

Netcraft, the leader in cybercrime detection and takedown, has set a new standard for reporting threats in real-time via a new JSON-based API powered by its world-leading Cybercrime Disruption and Takedown platform. This new API gives infrastructure providers — domain registrars, registries, and hosting companies — a free, real-time threat feed of abuse incidents on their infrastructure.

Netcraft has been a trusted partner working directly with infrastructure providers for over 20 years, including building custom connections with the world’s largest infrastructure providers. Netcraft’s new API provides an alternative to email-based notifications that the long tail of infrastructure providers often rely on to identify threats. This new approach will allow for greater automation, speed, and accuracy to eliminate malicious content from the internet.

In addition to this free API, which covers attacks that Netcraft takes down on behalf of its clients, Netcraft is proud to work with the internet infrastructure community to deliver its complete threat intelligence feed products through its flexible platform — providing enhanced coverage and opportunities for pre-emptive disruption.

“We recognize the key role infrastructure providers play in keeping the internet safe and have partnered with them for many years,” said Ryan Woodley, CEO of Netcraft. “With this new API, we’re making it easier for providers to identify and eliminate threats quickly. Reducing friction in the reporting process and enabling faster response from infrastructure providers allows for faster action, reducing the number of cybercrime victims around the globe.”

The API supports both CSV and JSON formats, providing machine-readable threat data, including a unique threat identifier, URL, threat type, screenshot, and incident report. This flexibility allows infrastructure providers of any size to seamlessly integrate this data into their existing security workflows and automate abuse handling processes efficiently.

Netcraft will attend ICANN82 in Seattle on March 8-13 and CloudFest in Germany on March 17-20, where the team is available to discuss the new API and how it can benefit infrastructure providers. We encourage attendees to connect with us to explore how this tool can help improve the process of handling abuse content on their platforms.
