Cloudera Launches Private Link Network for Data Security

Must read

Cloudera’s new service secures customer data by keeping it off the public Internet, addressing key privacy concerns for organizations in Australia and beyond.

Cloudera has announced the launch of the Cloudera Private Link Network, which addresses critical data security and privacy concerns for organizations with stringent internal data security policies.

This new offering ensures that data from customer workloads remains secure by not traversing the public Internet.

The Cloudera Private Link Network launch is particularly timely for Australia, which has witnessed a 388% increase in data breaches in 2024, according to a recent Gartner CIO survey. The survey also highlighted that the top technology investments for 2025 among Australian businesses include cybersecurity, data analytics, and cloud platforms, reflecting a growing concern about data exposure and security.

Vini Cardoso, Field CTO for Cloudera Australia and New Zealand, elaborated on the importance of these advancements: “Australian organizations are making significant investments in hybrid and multi-cloud environments to scale Gen AI-enabled applications. Security remains a critical issue despite this progress, with data breaches becoming increasingly common. Cloudera’s Private Link Network addresses data privacy and security challenges. It allows organizations to showcase their commitment to protecting personal data, not just for compliance, but because it’s the right thing to do.”

The Cloudera Private Link Network provides a unified, cross-cloud private connectivity service, allowing enterprises to manage data-intensive workloads across multiple cloud environments securely. By leveraging existing cloud provider services like AWS PrivateLink and Azure Private Link, this setup extends secure data transfer across various cloud platforms, thus enabling consistent security and streamlined management. Organizations can self-serve and provision services using the Cloudera Command Line Interface.

Chief Product Officer at Cloudera, Dipto Chakravarty, commented on the operational benefits of the new service: “Cloudera Private Link Network is purpose-built and managed by Cloudera to address enterprise privacy and connectivity concerns. Offloading the management of the Private Link Network to Cloudera will lower TCO for your organization and free up valuable resources, allowing you to focus on strategic business initiatives. By managing data integrity and trustworthiness throughout the architecture, we help enterprises safeguard sensitive customer data.”

Industry analyst Sanjeev Mohan also weighed in on the significance of this development, stating, “As organizations move to cross-cloud deployments, they expect to drastically reduce the complexity of multi-platform configurations to the point that they should only have to specify private link network endpoints between their control plane and the data planes. Private Link Network helps enterprises protect their data more effectively and easily leverage disparate clouds to reduce the total cost of ownership. This advancement further establishes Cloudera as a leader in providing secure, cross-cloud connectivity for metadata management.”

The Cloudera Private Link Network extends options for industries such as finance, healthcare, and pharmaceuticals, which often face privacy challenges due to the potential risk of data exposure when traffic traverses the public Internet. By providing secure, private connectivity from customer workloads to the Cloudera Control Plane, Cloudera aims to offer a solution that addresses privacy and compliance requirements while ensuring that sensitive data remains protected.
